A brief outline of what our staff services

Bar Staff (See also bar page)

Our professional bar staff have all taken the Smart Serve course offered through Tourism Nova Scotia. They are required to serve all alcohol in a responsible manner and to observe and deal with people who may be drinking too much. They arrive one hour before bar service commences and are usually done within a half hour of bar closing. If they work more then 7 hours the client is required to provide a meal (usually just added to the catering dinner).

Their duties include: setting up the bar, placing beer in coolers to get cold, and operating the bar, handling cash transactions and light cleanup of the room. During dinner service, they will help with water service and top up wine as necessary. It is expected that the alcohol, mix and associated bar supplies are located close to the bar for set up.  If you are having glassware for the night, you will be required to have another staff member on site for the duration to help clear the room.

Bar staff are only offered with the purchase of our bar package along with food catering service.

Food service Staff

Included in our catering quote is the appropriate number of staff required to complete our catering service. For most events this includes: placing dishes on tables, setting up our buffet, setting up the kitchen area, serving food, clearing dishes and cleaning of our areas. In some cases we look after room set and decorations however this would need to be prearranged with our sales team at an additional charge. For a typical event the caterer requires the room to be prepared with the tables up, linens placed, food service tables ready with linens (buffet tables, Hors D’oeuvres, Coffee tea etc.), napkins folded and ready for our team to set. After completion of the dinner, our staff will clean up all the dishes, take all napkins (to be placed in a blue bag), clean up of the food tables and clean up of kitchen area. We are not responsible for removal of garbage or compost from the location however this can be arranged for a fee.. Our staff will do the best they can to remove as many articles from the tables as possible however, it is inevitable that some things will be left, such as guest favor wrappers, paper napkins still in use etc.

Our staff is on site to make the event as memorable as possible and they will do what they can to help with other duties. The best way to avoid unnecessary issues is to ask the sales team as many questions as possible. For example if you want us to light all the candles in the room we can look after this as long as we know ahead of time to do it.

Additional Staff requirements

From time to time we get asked to look after other duties including room set, drink service, moving chairs from ceremony to venue. We are able in many cases to quote on this service so please ask your salesperson for any additional requirements.

Food Tasting and Sampling for Weddings

Many of our wedding customers look to try our delicious creations before the big day. Most of our items can be sampled however understand that cooking for one is often different then cooking for 150; food flavors change for large scale cooking. Some things we make can be shown in photos such as our Hors D’oeuvre selection while others like carved roast beef can be easily described. Our policy on tasting is that we allow for two people to sample, additional guests will be invoiced full price. Our price for the sampling will be dependent on what items you are looking to sample. On average you can expect to be charged between $25 and $45 per person which is added to the final invoice. The tastings are prepared in take home boxes.
